Gideon's Favorite Things

After last night, I should write that Gideon's favorite thing is loudly and enthusiastically greeting and waving to random people all over the church during mass.

Seriously, Gideon is five and a half months old, and I thought I should mention some of his tastes and preferences.

Favorite Food: Mashed banana

He likes the idea of eating and loves to eat a small piece of banana mashed up with a fork.  He usually eats this about twice a day, mixed with three baby spoons of rice cereal and a capful of formula.  In fact, he prefers all of the foods that he likes prepared in this way.  I usually feed him solids three times a day, either a few pieces of banana or a half tub of baby food mixed with three baby spoons of cereal and a cap of "snack."  He loves to eat and starts complaining, "Mumumumumum!" if he hasn't eaten in a while or if you're eating something that smells good to him.

Other Foods He Likes: Sweet potatoes, peas

Food He Kind of Likes: Pears

Foods That He Doesn't Dislike: Apples, prunes

Food He Dislikes: Squash (Baby Penelope's favorite!)

Food He Hates: Peaches

Favorite Song: Besides "Gideon James," he particularly likes "I Found a Million Dollar Baby (in the Five and Ten Center Store).  I am sure he thinks he is the baby.  I also sing him "April Showers" and "Giddy, You Are so Pretty" (to the tune of "Rosie, You Are My Posie") and "Rosie" from Bye Bye, Birdie.  Those four make a nice medley, but it's the first one he loves.

Lately he also likes "O Christmas Tree."  We sing it the "You're very, very pretty" way I made up for Nellie.

Now there's another verse:
Our Nellie puts you up and then,
Your lights shine bright for Gideon

Favorite Book: Moo, Baa, La La La
Other Books He Loves: Biscuit Visits the Pumpkin Patch, Mr. Brown Can Moo, Hippos Go Berserk
Books He Likes:  The Corduroy holiday books

Ooh!  He just woke up!
